The LGDA is delighted to share a heartfelt community-led fundraiser that is especially close to our hearts.
Tracy Milne, a dedicated member of our patient support community, has launched a Handmade Sock Monkey Keepsake Fundraiser to raise money for the Alfie Milne Young Investigators Award — supporting research into complex lymphatic anomalies (CLAs) and lymphatic malformations (LMs).
This initiative was inspired by Tracy’s own family journey following her son’s diagnosis with a complex lymphatic anomaly. Turning creativity into action, Tracy is lovingly handcrafting unique sock monkeys, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the LGDA.
How the Fundraiser Works
- Each sock monkey is handmade and sold via eBay UK
- This fundraiser is open to UK residents only due to shipping costs
- All proceeds are donated to the LGDA via a linked JustGiving page
- Sales are recorded as offline donations
- Funds are transferred to the LGDA quarterly to reduce bank fees and ensure more money goes directly toward research
This means that every sock monkey purchased becomes more than a keepsake — it becomes a contribution toward meaningful research and future treatment advances.
Who Can Take Part?
Due to shipping costs, sock monkey purchases are currently limited to UK residents only.
However, supporters from anywhere in the world are warmly invited to:
- Donate via the fundraiser page
- Share the campaign within their networks
- Help raise awareness of complex lymphatic anomalies and lymphatic malformations
Supporting the Young Investigators Award
Funds raised will go toward the Alfie Milne Young Investigators Award, which supports emerging researchers focusing on complex lymphatic anomalies and lymphatic malformations. Encouraging new investigators into the field is vital to accelerating progress in understanding and treating these rare conditions.
Community-driven initiatives like this help us continue funding research that would otherwise struggle to receive attention.
