Vascular Anomalies Center - University Hospital in Uppsala

The Team provides diagnostic as well as therapeutic interventions for lymphatic disease.

Diagnostic procedures performed are:

  • Nodal lymphangiography with lipiodol 
  • Dynamic contrast enhanced MR lymphangiography 
  • Lymphscintigraphy and SPECT. 
  • Fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green 

Therapeutic procedures performed include:

  • Embolization of lymphatic leaks e.g. in plastic bronchitis, central conducting lymphatic anomalies (CCLA), protein loosing enteropathy in children with FONTAN circulation, iatrogenic lymphatic leaks
  • Surgical peripheral lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA) in lymphedema and complex lymphatic anomalies
  • Surgical re-implantation of the thoracic duct.
  • Pharmacological treatments with e.g. Rapamune, Trametinib (MEK inhibitor), Thalidomide
