One year ago, I woke up and noticed Brenna was breathing funny. I made her an appointment with her paediatrician who with one examination sent us right to get an X-ray of her chest. Never in a million years did I ever think the things that followed that x-ray would forever change my life....

I drove her directly to Nemours children's hospital in Wilmington where she was immediately taken for a CT followed by the ICU. Her left lung had collapsed, and part of her right lung was collapsing. Her oesophagus and heart were misplaced and pushed to the left side of her body due to the amount of fluid filling up her chest.  They cut her chest and inserted a tube, bedside, while she was awake. The initial first drain was 600ML and she would continue to drain fluid for 2 months at times draining as much as 3 liters every day. She had a hole in her lymphatic system, and everything was leaking into her chest area.  She spent months in the ICU.  Eleven times being sedated, 28 different procedures and was placed on a ventilator 3 different times.  Developing a blood clot in her subclavian vein.  She almost bled out causing her body to go into shock, where she almost lost her life.

It took 74 days, but we were finally discharged and ready to go home.  Her amazing doctors at Nemours saved my babies life and I am forever grateful.

Here we are July 30th, 2025 and Brenna is doing amazing, and we thank God and all her amazing doctors for everything they have done for my daughter.

Brenna has COMPLEX LYMPHATIC ANOMALIES with Lymphatic malformations.
