About Isolated LMs

Lymphatic Malformation Awareness Month

Making Rare Visible — Together

Lymphatic Malformation Awareness Month is in May and brings our community together with a shared purpose: to increase understanding, strengthen support, and drive progress for people living with isolated lymphatic malformations (LMs) and complex lymphatic anomalies (CLAs).

These conditions may be rare, but the challenges they bring are real—and too often, misunderstood. Awareness Month is an opportunity to change that.

Our Goals for Awareness Month

Awareness is more than recognition—it’s a catalyst for progress. This month, we’re focused on:

Increasing Understanding

Many people have never heard of lymphatic malformations or complex lymphatic anomalies. By sharing clear, accurate information, we can help more individuals recognize symptoms, seek care, and better understand these conditions.

Strengthening Community

For patients and families, connection matters. Awareness Month helps individuals feel seen, heard, and supported—while building a stronger, more connected community.

Advancing Research and Care

Greater awareness leads to greater momentum. It helps drive interest in research, improve access to specialized care, and support the development of better treatment options.

Why We’re Talking About Both Isolated LMs and CLAs

This year, our Awareness Month reflects a broader and more inclusive approach—recognizing the full spectrum of lymphatic conditions.

  • Isolated lymphatic malformations (LMs) typically affect one area of the body
  • Complex lymphatic anomalies (CLAs) may involve multiple areas or systems

While these experiences can be different, they are connected through the lymphatic system—and through shared challenges in diagnosis, care, and understanding.

By raising awareness of both, we:

  • Provide clearer, more inclusive education
  • Support more individuals and families
  • Reflect how the field is evolving
  • Strengthen our collective voice

No matter where someone falls on the spectrum, they deserve access to information, care, and community.
